Jan Juc House
This work in progress residence, nestled within the iconic coastal landscape of Jan Juc and Bells Beach, is a permanent family dwelling, it departs from the transient nature of typical holiday homes, aiming to provide a robust and timeless architectural solution.
Clad in a full brick skin, the house stands as a resilient fortification against the harsh coastal elements. Its sculptural form, characterized by a striking butterfly roof, emerges from the landscape as a contemporary interpretation of vernacular architecture. This bold form not only adds a dynamic visual dimension but also maximizes natural light and ventilation, enhancing the indoor-outdoor connection.
The uninterrupted expanse of open land surrounding the house provides a canvas for the home’s sculptural presence. The carefully considered orientation and placement of apertures frame panoramic views of the coastal landscape, transforming everyday experiences into moments of awe. The integration of the house with its natural surroundings creates a harmonious dialogue between architecture and landscape, offering a serene and inspiring living environment.
